The Greater
Birmingham Youth Lacrosse Association (GBYLA) originated as the Birmingham Youth Lacrosse League and was formed in the year 1999 as a tax-exempt Alabama non-profit corporation with the mission of building the sport of lacrosse in the Greater Birmingham Metropolitan Area and the State of Alabama. Since its beginning, GBYLA has grown from having 5-10 boys in its first year to a recent enrollment of 1165 boys and girls playing in its 2010 Spring Season, with the bulk of this growth coming in the past 4 seasons.
We are in need of additional coaches, assistant coaches, referees and volunteer parents. If interested, or if you have questions about our various programs, or are willing to help us establish a youth lacrosse team in your community, please contact GBYLA Executive Director, Hunter Faulconer at
